Russian Language Study Abroad
This program is for students looking to travel to Russia and improve their language skills. It is offered annually in the summer and begins with several days in St. Petersburg and Moscow - two of Russia's largest cities. Students will then travel to Volgograd, where they'll attend classes and study intensive Russian for five weeks while living with host families.
Students will attend classes through the Department of Russian at Volgograd Polytechnical University. Classes will consist of 4-hour blocks each day and will include such topic areas as grammar, phonetics, conversational practice, and culture. Classes will be taught entirely in Russian. The teacher to student ratio is typically 6:1. Students will also participate in cultural excursions outside of the classroom.
It is highly recommended that students have completed two years of college-level Russian and have taken at least one Russian history or literature course before departure.
